Session cost

  • Intake Session (60 minutes): $150

  • Individual Sessions (50 minutes): $150

In private practice, the cost of therapy reflects more than just the time spent in session. It also covers behind-the-scenes tasks like scheduling, preparing for each session, reviewing progress, and maintaining accurate records.

While I do not accept insurance, this gives you more control over your child’s privacy and how their medical records are documented and shared.

I believe in being transparent about this so you can fully understand the value of the support your child is receiving. If you have any questions or need more details, I’m always happy to chat.

What’s included?

  • The session fee also includes time spent updating your child’s treatment plan, tracking progress, and staying connected with you to keep you informed. I also dedicate additional time outside of sessions to research, attend trainings, and prepare resources tailored to your child’s needs.

  • Even though I don’t work directly with insurance, you may be able to use your out-of-network benefits to help offset the cost of therapy. To make this process easier, I’ve partnered with Mentaya, a service that helps you access these benefits. Read on for more details!

  • At times, it may be helpful for me to collaborate with the other professionals in your child’s life. I’m happy to work alongside teachers, doctors, and previous therapists to ensure a well-rounded approach that supports your child’s growth and success.

  • I believe that everyone should have control over their own healthcare, including the ability to access important documents like letters of support for gender-affirming care when needed. That's why I don’t charge for writing these letters or for the time spent preparing them. Please note that I can only provide letters for individuals who are currently or have previously been in my care, and not for those outside of my practice.

Using out-of-network insurance benefits

I know many families rely on insurance to help cover therapy costs. While I don’t accept insurance directly, I’m happy to assist you in accessing your out-of-network benefits.

To simplify this process, I’ve partnered with Mentaya, a service that helps you navigate your out-of-network plan. By using this HIPAA-compliant tool with your insurance card, you can easily check your eligibility for reimbursement.

Reduced rates

To help make therapy more affordable for families, I offer reduced rates through Open Path. While I don’t offer a sliding scale, I’ve found that Open Path provides a clearer and more manageable way for me to offer financial support.

Sliding scales can be really helpful, but they also require a balance between full-rate and reduced-rate clients to be sustainable. Most people need sliding scale spots, which can make those spots hard to come by, often leading to waitlists or uncertainty. By offering reduced rates through Open Path, I can ensure that I have a consistent and transparent way of providing affordable care to those who need it.

If you’re curious about how Open Path works or whether it could be a good fit, I highly recommend checking out their website. And if you'd like, I'm happy to chat about this option and answer any questions!

Curious about therapy rates?

Before becoming a therapist, I also wondered about the cost differences between agencies and private practices. Since then, I’ve learned that agencies usually have more resources, so they can accept insurance and offer clients lower fees. However, insurance often reimburses at rates that don’t support a living wage, and staff may have to manage heavier caseloads, which can be hard to sustain.

In private practice, we take on all the costs ourselves, like taxes and office expenses, and we only earn when we see clients. On the flip side, this structure gives us the freedom to set our own rates and schedules, allowing for a more personalized approach to therapy.

In my view, the price differences between agencies and private practices usually has to do with size and how they're set up. I genuinely believe that access to mental health care should be a universal right, and it’s difficult to operate within a system that falls short of this ideal. While not a perfect solution, I’ve partnered with Open Path and Mentaya in an effort to make my services more accessible.

I’m committed to finding a balance between fair practices and a manageable workload, so that I can be fully present for your family. This journey is about collaboration and connection, and I value your feedback. If you have any suggestions on how I can improve your experience, I’d love to hear from you!
