Therapy for children & teens
in Richmond, Virginia and online
An adventure, not a chore.
When life gets hard, therapy might feel like something you “have to do.” But I see it as an opportunity to explore, learn, and grow. Every child’s journey is filled with discovery, challenges, and experiences that shape who they become.
In tough moments, it’s easy to focus only on reaching the end goal. But the true value lies in the process—those small wins, the insights, and the “ah-ha” moments along the way. When your child hits a rough patch, you might find yourself wondering, “what do I do now?”
That’s where I come in! Just like any great adventure, it’s a little easier with a guide by your side.
A place for your child to thrive.
My office is a welcoming space where your child or teen can truly be who they are. Here, we’ll use play, art, reading, movement, and other creative activities to celebrate and explore their unique identities. Don’t let the name fool you—play therapy is so much more than “just” play. It’s a powerful tool that helps process emotions, build confidence, and work through challenges in a natural, engaging way. As a therapist specializing in child mental health and play therapy, I’m dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent kids and teens as they grapple with tough stuff and learn to love who they are.
A little about me.
I’m Vee Lamneck, and my pronouns are they/them. I specialize in play therapy for children and teens, as well as family support.
I believe in the power of exploration through therapy, and I’m passionate about partnering with families to understand and meet their unique needs. Whether your child is neurodivergent, exploring their LGBTQ+ identity, or navigating the ups and downs of growing up, I’m ready to jump in and offer guidance along the way.
Parenting isn’t easy, and it’s not always clear what’s needed in the moment—and that’s totally okay! My approach is grounded in empathy, creativity, and a deep belief in your child’s inherent goodness. I’m here to listen, understand, and work with you to find what’s best for your family.

FAQs
What does neurodivergent mean?
“Neurodivergent” is a term coined by Kassiane Asasumasu (she/her) in 2000 to describe people whose thinking, processing, or behavior differs from dominant societal standards of “normal.” This can include those who are autistic, adhd, dyslexic, and more. The key idea is that these differences are not deficits, but a natural and valuable part of the human experience.
